Stillness, A Man and One Instrument
A master-drummer responds to the art of Mona in situ.
David will appear twice a day in the Mona Museum, popping up with one instrument and playing for half an hour in a meditative state. He will use a different instrument each time, showcasing the unique sounds, timbres and extended techniques that David is renowned for. Zappa in Recital
The music of art rocker Frank Zappa (and other Zappa-inspired compositions), rearranged for an unusual piano, saxophone and drums trio. Alessandra Garosi (Italy) on piano, Adam Simmons (Melbourne) on saxophones and David Jones on drum kit. The synergy between the 3 musicians is vibrant. This project was a sellout in their last appearance at the Melbourne Recital Centre – the live recording of that performance will be available on CD at the Festival. Powerful, dynamic, humourous, zany and inspired music-making.

Organ Room, Mona
